CHPRBN Begins Verification of Certificates for Over 3,000 Community Health Practitioners in Anambra
The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) has commenced the verification of certificates and practising licences of more than 3,000 community health practitioners across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State as part of efforts to eliminate quackery and strengthen professionalism in the health sector.
The exercise, taking place at the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, is being conducted simultaneously across the five South East states.
Speaking during the exercise, the Registrar of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, Associate Professor Bashir Idris, represented by his Technical Adviser and leader of the verification team, Dr. Peace Ike Onwueme, said the exercise is aimed at authenticating the certificates and licences of practitioners, identifying forged documents, and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
He explained that the initiative would promote compliance with professional regulations, strengthen ethical standards, enhance professional integrity, and improve the credibility and recognition of duly licensed community health practitioners.
Receiving the verification team, the Director of Community Health Services at the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and Acting Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Ngozi Okeke, described the exercise as timely and necessary.
She stressed the importance of verifying the credentials of healthcare workers, warning that anyone found guilty of forging certificates or practising licences would face severe sanctions from the Anambra State Government.
Also speaking, the State Chairperson of the Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Mrs. Chinyere Edeh, welcomed the exercise and expressed appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, for ensuring Anambra’s participation in the nationwide verification exercise.
