The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 general election available online, following concerns by Nigerians and other stakeholders over the need for wider public access to the register.

The Commission, in a statement issued on Monday by the Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said the register could now be accessed through its online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org.

INEC said the online publication complements the physical display of the preliminary register conducted at Registration Areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.

The physical exercise provided registered voters with the opportunity to inspect their personal details and submit claims and objections as prescribed by law.

According to the Commission, the decision to make the register available online is aimed at promoting transparency, improving accessibility and strengthening public confidence in the electoral process.

INEC added that it was still processing claims and objections arising from the physical display exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters scheduled for December 15, 2026.

The Commission expressed appreciation to Nigerians and other stakeholders for their continued interest and constructive engagement, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, towards delivering credible elections.
