AWKA: Reports of alleged cult-related violence in Ifite-Awka and neighbouring communities in Anambra State have raised fresh concerns over security in the area.

An online platform, Naija Confra, reported on Friday, October 30, that a man identified only as Afam, also known as Lawisko, was allegedly killed around Ukwu Aki in Ifite-Awka.

The platform claimed that the deceased was a member of the Vikings confraternity, also known as DNKI, and that the killing was carried out by suspected members of the Aye group, identified as NBM.

Naija Confra further alleged that the incident was connected to an earlier attack on October 27 in Amaenyi, during which three suspected members of the Aye group were reportedly attacked. One of them, identified as Gozie, also known as Gozzy, was said to have died, while the other two reportedly survived.

The platform described the latest incident as a possible reprisal attack, although the alleged connection between both incidents and the identities of those involved have not been independently established.

As of the time of this report, the claims have not been independently verified, and no official police confirmation has been obtained regarding the reported incidents.

The Anambra State Police Command is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the allegations, including whether any deaths occurred and whether investigations have commenced.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, avoid spreading unverified information and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
