A Nigerian lady has recounted an emotional experience after her boyfriend, a church choirmaster, reportedly announced plans to marry another woman during a Thanksgiving service, leaving her heartbroken in front of fellow worshippers.

In a video shared on TikTok, the lady identified her boyfriend as Prosper and explained that they had been dating secretly, with other members of their church reportedly unaware of their relationship.

She said she regularly attended church partly because of him and admired his singing voice and friendly personality.

According to her account, Prosper stood up during the Thanksgiving service to give a testimony and announced that he would be getting married the following month. She initially smiled, believing he was about to publicly acknowledge their relationship.

However, her excitement reportedly turned to shock when he identified another female choir member as his bride to be, prompting celebrations from church members who allegedly knew nothing about his relationship with her.

The lady said she struggled to control her emotions and began shaking as she tried to remain composed throughout the service.

“I chop breakfast inside church today, Thanksgiving Day,” she lamented, using the popular Nigerian expression for an unexpected romantic heartbreak.
