Peter Obi support group appoints Fulani cattle breeders chairman as national coordinator

The National Chairman of the Jabbama Fulbe Remobe E Wainaabe Socio-Cultural Development Association, Comrade Adamu Gatari, has accepted his appointment as National Coordinator of the Cattle Breeders Wing of the Peter Obi Mandate Group (POMAG), pledging to promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders across Nigeria.

Gatari confirmed his acceptance in a letter dated October 16, 2026, addressed to POMAG National Coordinator, Reverend Innocent C.P. Udochukwu, following his appointment conveyed in a letter dated October 14.

Describing the appointment as a call to service, Gatari thanked the group’s National Executive Council for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to carry out his responsibilities with dedication, integrity and humility.

He said his assignment would focus on mobilising and integrating Fulani pastoralist communities into the group’s activities, advancing peaceful relations between farmers and herders, and offering policy recommendations to address the persistent conflicts affecting communities across the country.

Gatari also endorsed modern ranching and improved livestock management as important elements of a sustainable response to the crisis, pledging to promote the approach nationwide.

Farmer herder conflicts have remained a major security and livelihood concern in Nigeria, with affected communities suffering loss of lives, displacement, destruction of farmland and disruption of economic activities. Efforts to address the crisis have included calls for improved livestock management, effective conflict resolution and stronger engagement between farming and pastoralist communities.

POMAG describes itself as a support movement for Mr Peter Obi, with structures across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and a diaspora chapter. The group promotes equity, justice and good governance as its guiding principles.

Gatari’s appointment places him in a position to engage pastoralist communities through the group’s political mobilisation structure while advancing its stated objective of peaceful coexistence and improved livestock management.
