A 255 shop building materials complex at Nkwo Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State has been commissioned and opened for business by the outgoing Mayor of the council area, Honourable Rome Ibekwe.
The commissioning marked the climax of projects initiated, completed and commissioned by the Ibekwe administration as he bows out as the chief executive of Anaocha Local Government Area.
The ceremony attracted prominent indigenes of Anaocha who gathered to bid farewell to the administration, with several speakers describing the tenure as historical and legendary.
Speaking at the event, Ibekwe said the building materials market represented the beginning of his administration’s vision to transform Anaocha into an economic hub, noting that the dream had become a reality with the support of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

According to him, the market was built to international standards and equipped with the necessary amenities to facilitate seamless buying and selling.
Ibekwe also appealed to traders operating at Nwagu Agulu to relocate to the new market voluntarily rather than wait for government enforcement.
The outgoing Deputy Mayor of Anaocha, Barrister Peter Emene, who hails from Agulu, commended Ibekwe for implementing the administration’s “Greater Anaocha Is Possible” vision.
Emene said the development had positioned Anaocha to contribute to the state government’s vision of transforming the area into the state’s fifth urban economic belt.
Earlier, the Chairman of Anaocha Building Materials Market, Nkwo Agulu, Mr Ekene Emegwamuo, thanked God for the completion of the project and commended Ibekwe for demonstrating the boldness to transform his vision into reality.
The newly commissioned complex is expected to provide a dedicated business environment for building materials traders while strengthening commercial activities within Anaocha.
