Umahi Urges South-East to Support Tinubu, Cites Ongoing Infrastructure Projects

By Chibuzo Obidike |Ichie Times

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has urged the South-East to adopt a pragmatic political strategy by supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing ongoing federal infrastructure projects across the region.

Umahi said the Tinubu administration had continued to invest in critical infrastructure in the South-East and South-South despite the regions’ voting patterns in the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on the administration’s infrastructure projects, the minister said the Federal Government had intervened in several road projects across the country, including areas in the South-East that previously lacked stable road networks.

He urged the people of the South-East and South-South to support the President, pointing to the scale of infrastructure development underway in the regions.

Umahi also challenged political leaders from the South-East, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi, to highlight their records of attracting federal infrastructure projects to the region.

Describing Obi as a brother, the minister called on the Igbo people to be strategic in their political decisions and cautioned against the spread of hatred on social media.

He added that the region was receiving infrastructure investments despite not giving Tinubu the expected electoral support in 2023.

His comments come amid discussions about federal infrastructure development and the political relationship between the South-East and the Tinubu administration.
