Police Parade Two Doctors, Others Over Alleged Kidney Harvesting In Nasarawa

The Nigeria Police Force has paraded four suspects allegedly linked to an organ harvesting and human trafficking syndicate operating in Nasarawa State.

The suspects are 23 year old Emmanuel Ode, 48 year old Dr. Benjamin Oyime, a nephrologist and consultant at Wellington Hospital, Life Camp, Abuja, 53 year old Dr. Daniel Otukpa, also a nephrologist and Acting Director of Clinical Services at the hospital, and 25 year old David Idoko.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the suspects were arrested on August 19, 2026, during a sting operation at Auta Balifi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Police said Ode allegedly confessed to recruiting vulnerable persons under false pretences for illegal kidney harvesting.

The police alleged that one victim, identified as 22 year old Samuel Ezekiel, was lured to Wellington Hospital on April 24, 2026, where his kidney was allegedly harvested for $1,250, while another victim reportedly said he was similarly lured in 2022 and paid N7 million.

Investigators also alleged that the syndicate targeted vulnerable young people, exploiting their financial difficulties, while forging documents including NIN details, birth certificates, affidavits and consent letters to facilitate the alleged procedures. Police said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable Nigerians from human trafficking and illegal organ harvesting.
