Anambra Police Commissioner, Ama Meets Arewa Leaders, Seeks Stronger Partnership

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has strengthened the Command’s community policing strategy by engaging leaders of the 21 Local Government Areas of the Arewa Community in the state.

The meeting, held on Monday, August 24, 2026, focused on security, intelligence sharing and ways of deepening peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities that make up Anambra State.

Speaking during the engagement, CP Nnanna stressed that policing cannot succeed through the efforts of security agencies alone, noting that community leaders and residents have a critical role to play in preventing crime and maintaining peace.

He urged the Arewa community leaders to promptly share credible information with the Police and continue sensitising their members on the need to support lawful security operations.

The Commissioner also called for mutual understanding and peaceful relations between communities, stressing that emerging security concerns should be addressed through dialogue and collaboration before they escalate.

Responding, the Chairman of Arewa Community in Anambra State and National Deputy Director General of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Gidado Siddiki Sarki, commended the Police Command for its accessibility and commitment to community policing.

Siddiki pledged the continued cooperation of the Arewa community with the Police and other security agencies in protecting lives and property and promoting harmonious coexistence across the state.

CP Nnanna assured the delegation that his Command would continue to maintain an open-door policy and engage all law-abiding communities regardless of ethnic, religious or social background.

He said trust, intelligence sharing and collective responsibility remain central to his policing strategy, reaffirming the Command’s determination to work with every community towards a safer and more peaceful Anambra.
