Enugu Police Arrest 26-Year Old Robbery Suspect, Recover Pistol

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 26-year old man, Chekwube Agbo, suspected to be an armed robber in Obollo Etiti, Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed information from a member of the public about the suspicious activities of the suspect, who had arrived at a hotel claiming he wanted to lodge.

Police operatives searched his bag and recovered a locally made pistol and a live cartridge, leading to his arrest.

The Police said the suspect confessed during preliminary interrogation to being a member of a robbery gang that allegedly targets Point of Sale operators, while other members of the gang fled after his arrest.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the informant and urged residents to report suspicious persons and activities, adding that investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be prosecuted after its conclusion.
