Chief Primus Odili Bags PhD in Philosophy from COO

Former Chief of Staff to the Governor of Anambra, Chief Willie Obiano, Chief Primus Ugochukwu Odili, has added another academic milestone to his profile after earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philosophy from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).
Chief Odili successfully defended his doctoral thesis on August 3, 2026, marking the completion of years of rigorous academic research and scholarship.
His research, titled around the application of Martin Heidegger’s theory of conscience to addressing moral decadence in Nigeria, was examined by the External Examiner, Prof. Charles Umeh Nweke of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who commended the scholar’s diligence, commitment, and outstanding performance, affirming that he was worthy of the award.
The thesis defence was witnessed by the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Prof. Osita Chiaghanam; the Head of Department, Dr. Emeka Iloanya; his supervisors, Prof. Sylvanus Nnoruka and Dr. Donatus Nwoye; as well as Rev. Fr. Prof. Kenneth Ikenga Oraegbunam, Prof. Ifeanyi Muoneke, other academics, family members, and well wishers.
Speaking after the successful defence, Chief Odili described the achievement as the greatest personal gift he had given himself. He recalled that since returning from the United States eight years ago to serve in the Anambra State Government, he remained committed to his academic ambition, travelling regularly between Nigeria and the United States to attend lectures and examinations until the completion of the programme.
His achievement has been widely described as an inspiration, demonstrating that age and professional responsibilities are no barrier to academic excellence and lifelong learning.
