Police Arrest Two Suspected Cattle Thieves, Foil Abduction Attempt in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a cattle theft syndicate and recovered six stolen cows following a swift response to a distress call in Sagamu.

The suspects, identified as 35 year old Abiodun Kamilu and 37 year old Adesanya Segun, were arrested after seven cows were reportedly stolen from a cattle yard in the Maskoli area of Sagamu in the early hours of Saturday, July 25.

According to the police, officers from the Sagamu Division mobilised immediately and mounted surveillance along possible escape routes. The operation led to the interception of suspicious vehicles along the Sagamu Ijebu Ode Expressway.

Six of the stolen cows were recovered, while the vehicle allegedly used in the operation was also abandoned and recovered. Police said efforts were continuing to locate the remaining cow and apprehend other members of the suspected syndicate.

In a separate operation the following day, officers attached to the Safer Highway Patrol reportedly disrupted a suspected abduction along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

The patrol team responded after hearing gunshots around the Onigaari area. The police presence reportedly forced the suspected abductors to retreat into a nearby bush.

The person targeted in the incident was rescued unhurt and escorted with his vehicle to the Ogunmakin Police Post for safety and further procedures.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved, describing the operations as evidence.
