NSCDC Impounds Truck Carrying 45,000 Litres of Suspected Adulterated Petrol

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Command, has arrested a suspect identified as Sunday Ukeh and impounded a truck allegedly conveying 45,000 litres of suspected adulterated Premium Motor Spirit, PMS.

The truck was intercepted on Sunday at Amansea, along the Enugu Onitsha Expressway in Awka, during an intelligence led operation by the command’s Anti Vandalism Squad.

According to the NSCDC, the suspect allegedly refused to stop when flagged down and attempted to drive through the personnel before he was eventually intercepted at the Amansea Military Checkpoint.

The command said the suspect also allegedly attempted to assault one of its officers during the arrest.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed discrepancies in the waybill presented by the suspect. The suspect, truck and petroleum product have been taken into custody as investigations continue.

The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to tackling illegal activities in the petroleum sector and warned that attacks on personnel carrying out lawful duties would attract the full weight of the law.
