No Investment Thrives in Atmosphere of Rancour, Communal Crisis -Anambra East Mayor Tells Igbariam, Nando Communities
The Mayor of Anambra East Local Government Area, Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, has called for peace, unity and reconciliation between the Igbariam Community and the Isinyi Clan of Nando following a longstanding land dispute between both communities.
The Mayor made the call during a peace meeting held at his office in Otuocha, where he intervened in efforts to resolve the dispute and restore lasting peace between the two communities.
Hon. Chinweze noted that persistent communal conflicts do not only threaten lives and property but also discourage investors, businesses and development partners from bringing opportunities to affected areas.
He stressed that no meaningful investment can thrive in an atmosphere of rancour, insecurity and communal crisis, adding that Anambra East possesses enormous agricultural, commercial and human capital potential that can only be fully harnessed in a peaceful and secure environment.
According to the Mayor, peace is the foundation upon which sustainable development is built. He therefore urged the people of Igbariam and Isinyi Clan of Nando to embrace dialogue, mutual respect and reconciliation in the interest of present and future generations.
Hon. Chinweze reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to dialogue, justice, security and inclusive development, assuring both communities that every lawful effort would be made to achieve a lasting resolution to the dispute.
He further noted that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is committed to building a liveable, safe and prosperous homeland, stressing that communal conflicts have no place in the state’s development agenda.
Responding, the leadership of Igbariam Community and Isinyi Clan of Nando commended the Mayor for his timely and impartial intervention, describing the peace initiative as a significant step towards resolving the crisis.
They pledged to uphold peace, promote mutual respect and work together in the interest of sustainable development.
The intervention further highlights the commitment of the Chinweze administration to building a peaceful, united, secure and economically prosperous Anambra East Local Government Area.
