Army Clears Man Previously Reported as Terror Suspect After Investigation

The Nigerian Army has cleared a man who was previously reported as a suspected terrorist after investigations found no evidence linking him to any terrorist organisation.

The individual, identified as Aboubakar Muhammad Zein-Nur, also known as Houdairi, was intercepted by troops of the 68 Battalion during an operation following the attack on Cross Kauwa.

According to a statement by Operation HADIN KAI, the troops acted in line with established security procedures due to the prevailing security situation and the use of border corridors by terrorist groups for movement and logistics.

However, subsequent intelligence assessments and investigations found no evidence that Zein-Nur had any affiliation with any known terrorist group.

The military said investigations established that he is a resident of Shattu Anguba Village in Bosso, Niger Republic, where he engages in camel rearing beyond the River Komadougou.

Operation HADIN KAI has consequently cleared him of any links to terrorism.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed that individuals intercepted under suspicious circumstances during military operations are subjected to due process and security screening to distinguish innocent civilians from terrorist elements.

The command also restated its commitment to combating terrorism while upholding professionalism, respect for human rights and the rule of law.
