A Celebration of Faith, Excellence and 35 Years of Impactful Journalism

The Christian community across Anambra State and beyond has a special reason to look forward to the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, as the pioneer Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, has accepted to serve as the keynote speaker at the landmark event.

The respected clergyman has also accepted to be honoured as the Face of the 2026 Man of the Year Magazine of the NUJ Anambra State Council.

Bishop Ikeakor accepted the invitation when the State Working Committee of the NUJ, led by the State Chairman, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, paid him a familiarisation and courtesy visit at his office in Amichi on Tuesday, July 21.

The delegation comprised members of the State Working Committee, SWC, and the 2026 NUJ Man of the Year Award Planning Committee.

During the visit, Dr. Odogwu formally presented the Bishop with the letter of invitation and requested him to serve as the keynote speaker at the forthcoming anniversary celebration.

The NUJ Chairman explained that the visit also provided an opportunity for the Union to seek the Bishop’s fatherly counsel and wealth of experience towards ensuring a successful celebration.

Describing Bishop Ikeakor as a respected sage, Dr. Odogwu said the Union considered his wisdom and guidance invaluable, adding that his presence would greatly enrich the event.

The Bishop’s acceptance has added a significant spiritual dimension to what promises to be a memorable anniversary celebration, bringing together journalists, church leaders, public officials, professionals and members of the Christian community.

Known for his commitment to faith, leadership and service, Bishop Ikeakor is expected to deliver a keynote address that will speak to the role of truth, integrity, responsibility and service in society, values that remain central to both the Christian faith and the journalism profession.

The Bishop also encouraged journalists to remain focused, committed and professional in the discharge of their duties, irrespective of the challenges they encounter.

For the Christian community, the anniversary presents an opportunity to come together, celebrate a distinguished servant of God and reflect on the importance of truth, service and moral leadership in building a better society.

The event will also feature the unveiling of the 2026 NUJ Anambra Man of the Year Magazine, with Bishop Ikeakor as its cover personality.
