Wear Your Uniforms and Name Tags, Anambra Health Officials Direct Medical Workers
By Ebele Egoh
Health workers at General Hospital, Umueri, have been directed to wear their official uniforms and visible name tags while attending to patients as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, accountability, and quality healthcare service delivery.
The directive was issued by the Medical Officer in Charge of the hospital, Dr. Chinenye Obi, during an official inspection led by the Anambra State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, and his management team.
The inspection was aimed at evaluating staff performance, workplace discipline, and the overall standard of healthcare services at the facility.
During the exercise, the inspection team observed that the majority of health workers were present at their duty posts and properly dressed in their official uniforms with clearly displayed name tags.
However, a few staff members were found to be absent from duty or failed to comply with the approved dress code.
Reacting to the findings, Dr. Ifeanaeme directed the Head of Administration to issue queries to officers who violated the hospital’s dress code and attendance requirements.
He stressed that proper identification of healthcare workers promotes professionalism, builds patients’ confidence, and improves accountability within the health system.
The Hospital Administrator also expressed concern over poor record keeping in some departments, warning that inadequate documentation could negatively affect accountability, planning, and effective healthcare delivery.
He urged staff to maintain accurate records, regularly update inventories of personnel and medical equipment, and display them in their respective units to support effective monitoring and supervision.
Dr. Ifeanaeme commended the management of General Hospital, Umueri, for maintaining a clean, organised, and patient friendly environment, encouraging staff to sustain the standard.
The Medical Officer in Charge, Dr. Chinenye Obi, alongside Dr. Anierobi and other members of staff, later conducted the Hospital Administrator and his team on an inspection tour of the various departments and units of the hospital.
The visit reinforced the Anambra State Government’s commitment to improving professionalism, accountability, and the quality of healthcare services across public health facilities.
