FedPoly Oko Rector Reaffirms Commitment to Security Personnel’s Welfare

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of the institution’s security personnel through enhanced support and the provision of essential working tools.

Dr. Awuzie gave the assurance after receiving a guard of honour mounted by members of the Polytechnic’s security unit in front of the administrative building in appreciation of her commitment to their welfare.

Responding to the gesture, the Rector thanked the Chief Security Officer, Khaki Abdulahi David, and the entire security team, describing the honour as a source of encouragement to continue prioritising the welfare and operational needs of the institution’s security personnel.

She commended the officers for their dedication and professionalism in safeguarding lives and property, especially during the ongoing road construction that has temporarily opened sections of the institution’s perimeter fence.

Dr. Awuzie also announced that officials of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) were expected at the institution to commence the installation of an alternative power supply system.

According to her, the project will improve lighting across the Polytechnic’s campuses, strengthen campus security and help reduce criminal activities.

Earlier, the Chief Security Officer, Khaki Abdulahi David, said the guard of honour was organised to recognise the Rector’s visionary leadership and her commitment to improving the welfare of security personnel.

He noted that the administration had resolved the long standing challenge of delayed salary payments and had begun clearing salary arrears inherited from the previous administration, with two months of outstanding arrears already paid.

The Chief Security Officer further disclosed that the Rector had constructed new security posts at the Polytechnic’s Permanent Site and Ufuma Campus and approved the recruitment of additional security personnel during the institution’s recent employment exercise.

The event was attended by principal officers and members of the Polytechnic’s management team.
