Operation HADIN KAI Records Major Successes, Rescues Abductees, Repels ISWAP Attack

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded fresh operational successes across the North East, rescuing abductees, repelling an attack by ISWAP terrorists, arresting suspected logistics suppliers and recovering arms, ammunition, cash and other items linked to terrorist activities.

According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, during a Search and Rescue operation in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, rescued two abductees from a terrorist hideout.

The troops also recovered ₦1.2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities, food items and other logistics believed to have supported terrorist operations. The rescued victims have been evacuated to a secure location where they are receiving medical attention and psychosocial support.

 

In another operation, troops at the Forward Operating Base, Logomani, in Ngala Local Government Area successfully repelled a coordinated attack by ISWAP fighters.

Although the terrorists briefly breached part of the base’s defensive perimeter, the troops regrouped and launched a counter offensive that inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, forcing them to retreat with gunshot wounds.

The military, however, confirmed that one soldier was killed during the encounter, while two gun trucks and some combat equipment were damaged. It added that the base remains under the control of troops, with reinforcements deployed and clearance operations ongoing.

Elsewhere, troops of the 232 Battalion, acting on intelligence, arrested a suspected criminal in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State and recovered one AK 47 rifle, two magazines and twenty eight rounds of 7.62 millimetre special ammunition.

 

Similarly, troops of the 149 Battalion apprehended two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State. Recovered items included cash, a Volkswagen Golf car, construction materials, household items and other supplies believed to have been intended for terrorist groups.

Troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, also carried out clearance operations around Wulgo, recovering a sack containing assorted illicit drugs abandoned by fleeing terrorists.

In a related development, six suspected ISWAP members and their families surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion in Gwoza Local Government Area after fleeing terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains.

The military recovered over ₦1.5 million, two mobile phones and other items from the group.

Also, at Molai checkpoint, troops arrested another suspected logistics supplier found transporting a large quantity of medical supplies without the required clearance, while troops of the 233 Tank Battalion, working with local hunters in Yobe State, intercepted another suspected logistics supplier transporting five motorcycle tyres allegedly meant for terrorists.

Operation HADIN KAI said the latest achievements demonstrate the effectiveness of sustained military offensives, intelligence driven operations and collaboration with other security agencies in disrupting terrorist networks across the North East.

The military assured that search and rescue operations would continue until all abducted persons are rescued, while warning individuals supplying food, fuel, construction materials, medical items or any other form of logistics to terrorist groups to desist or face arrest and prosecution.
